Garry holds two degrees in architecture with more than 30 years professional experience in architectural practice including 18 years in heritage conservation, and is a member of ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites). His experience in heritage includes conservation works, adaptive reuse, remediation, heritage masterplanning, interpretation, and the preparation of Conservation Management Plans (CMP) and Statements of Heritage Impact (SHI). Garry has been a heritage advisor to Lane Cove Council. His work on the Conservation Management Plan for the Hill End Heritage Site, including coordination with an urban design masterplan and a landscape masterplan, resulted in a high commendation in the 2013 National Trust Heritage Awards.
His recent projects include working with the design architects, specialist stonemason and archaeologist in the conservation and design development upgrade phase of the State heritage listed Campbells Stores in The Rocks, and is also the heritage consultant in the current adaptive reuse works for the Griffiths Teas building in Surry Hills. With his experience in conservation practice and multi-disciplinary coordination, Garry has an excellent understanding of the visual and heritage opportunities and constraints required in the development of complex heritage sensitive sites.
